Russia's budget deficit around 2.6 pct of GDP in 2025: finance ministry

MOSCOW, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- Russia's federal budget recorded a deficit of 5.65 trillion rubles (about 72.1 billion U.S. dollars), or around 2.6 percent of GDP, in 2025, the Russian Finance Ministry said Monday.

In a statement, the ministry said the preliminary figure is in line with estimates set out in the revised budget law, adding that the federal budget execution in 2025 ensured the sustainability of the budget system and maintained a stable level of public debt, which stood at 16.1 percent of GDP.

According to the estimates, federal budget revenue in 2025 reached 37.28 trillion rubles, up 1.6 percent from the previous year, while expenditure amounted to 42.93 trillion rubles, up 6.8 percent year on year.

The ministry said oil and gas revenues fell by 23.8 percent year on year to 8.48 trillion rubles, while non-oil and gas revenues rose 12.6 percent to 28.81 trillion rubles.
