US Homeland Security: one dead in Minneapolis shooting amid immigration surge


WASHINGTON, ‌Jan 7 (Reuters) - One ‌person is dead ‌after ICE officers on a large-scale immigration operation ‍in Minneapolis ‍shot someone ‌who the U.S. Department ‍of Homeland ​Security said had "weaponized" ⁠their vehicle, according to DHS ‌spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin.

"An ⁠ICE officer, ‍fearing for his life, the ‍lives of his ‌fellow law enforcement and the safety of the public, fired defensive shots," McLaughlin wrote in a ‌post on X.
