Crude futures settle lower


NEW YORK, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) -- Oil prices fell on Tuesday.

The West Texas Intermediate for January delivery dropped 1.55 U.S. dollars, or 2.73 percent, to settle at 55.27 dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude for February delivery lost 1.64 dollars, or 2.71 percent, to settle at 58.92 dollars a barrel on the London ICE Futures Exchange.
