U.S. dollar ticks up


NEW YORK, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar strengthened in late trading on Tuesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 0.13 percent to 99.220 at 3 p.m. (2000 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro was down to 1.1628 dollars from 1.1640 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound decreased to 1.3302 dollars from 1.3327 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 156.84 Japanese yen, higher than 155.91 Japanese yen in the previous session. The U.S. dollar dropped to 0.8060 Swiss francs from 0.8067 Swiss francs, and it slipped to 1.3849 Canadian dollars from 1.3850 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar fell to 9.3650 Swedish kronor from 9.4020 Swedish kronor.
