UAE hosts media event highlighting media's role, responsibility


ABU DHABI, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- The BRIDGE Summit, a flagship conference and exhibition covering the full spectrum of media and entertainment industries, kicked off here on Monday, with a focus on the role and responsibility of the media in bridging divides.

Abdulla bin Mohamed bin Butti Al Hamed, chairman of BRIDGE, said, "Through the BRIDGE Summit, we seek to establish a new chapter in the future role of media. In the coming decades, we will witness artificial intelligence creating parallel worlds that humans will interact with."

"It is values that give words their meaning; credibility that gives news its weight; and responsibility that grants media its legitimacy in the eyes of the people," he added.

The summit also featured participation from creative sectors such as e-gaming, augmented and virtual reality technologies, design, architecture, and cultural products.

According to the organizer, the event, running until Wednesday, has attracted over 60,000 participants worldwide, with more than 300 sessions and activities.
