Russia's used car imports up 83 pct in November

MOSCOW, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- Russia imported 59,800 used cars in November, up 83 percent year on year, Sergey Tselikov, director of Russian automotive analytical agency Autostat, said Thursday.

In the first 11 months of 2025, used car imports in Russia rose 21 percent, totaling 442,600, he said.

The strong increase in November is linked to the planned introduction of new waste collection tariffs on Dec. 1, as importers brought forward orders to avoid higher costs, according to Tselikov.

Over half of the imported used cars were produced in 2021 and 2022, Tselikov said, noting that Japan and the Republic of Korea were the top two source countries for used vehicle imports.
