U.S. stocks close higher


NEW YORK, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended higher on Wednesday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 47.03 points, or 0.1 percent, to 46,138.77. The S&P 500 added 24.84 points, or 0.38 percent, to 6,642.16. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased 131.38 points, or 0.59 percent, to 22,564.23.

Six of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in green, with technology and communication services leading the gainers by rising 0.93 percent and 0.72 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, energy and utilities led the laggards by dropping 1.3 percent and 0.81 percent, respectively.
