U.S. dollar ticks up


NEW YORK, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar strengthened in late trading on Monday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, gained 0.29 percent to 99.588 at 3 p.m. (2000 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro fell to 1.1583 dollars from 1.1618 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound declined to 1.3146 dollars from 1.3165 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 155.25 Japanese yen, higher than 154.56 Japanese yen in the previous session. The U.S. dollar rose to 0.7965 Swiss francs from 0.7940 Swiss francs, and it advanced to 1.4055 Canadian dollars from 1.4026 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar climbed to 9.4877 Swedish Kronor from 9.4584 Swedish Kronor.
