Corporate tax revenue in Finland falls in 2024

HELSINKI, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- Overall corporate tax revenue in Finland fell to around 7 billion euros (8.1 billion U.S. dollars) in 2024, down from approximately 8 billion euros in 2023, the national broadcaster Yle reported on Wednesday.

Finland marked its annual "Tax Day" on Wednesday. Data showed that banks remained among the country's largest corporate taxpayers in 2024.

OP Financial Group contributed about 387 million euros in corporate tax, followed by Nordea Bank with roughly 240 million euros. Retail groups S Group and Kesko ranked next, with the pharmaceutical company Bayer placing fifth.

According to Yle, more than 38,000 people in Finland earned more than 150,000 euros last year -- categorized as high earners -- nearly 4,500 more than the previous year. Men continued to make up the clear majority, accounting for about 78 percent, although the number of women rose by over 1,000. (1 euro = 1.16 U.S. dollar)
