Four taken to hospital after residential fire in Singapore

SINGAPORE, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- Four people were assessed for smoke inhalation and taken to the hospital following a fire in a residential building in central Singapore on Tuesday night, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said Wednesday.

About 200 people were evacuated from the affected block as a precautionary measure, the SCDF said in a Facebook post.

The fire involved a Personal Mobility Aid at a lift lobby on the eighth floor. Firefighters extinguished the blaze using a water jet.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The SCDF warned that motorized devices that are modified, poorly maintained, or charged with non-original chargers can pose a fire risk.
