Vietnam to invest over 821 mln USD in Con Dao special zone's infrastructure

HANOI, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's southern hub Ho Chi Minh City will invest more than 21.6 trillion Vietnamese dong (about 821.1 million U.S. dollars) to develop infrastructure in the Con Dao special zone, local daily Nhan Dan reported Tuesday.

The investment is part of the general planning for Con Dao's development through 2045, which was recently approved.

According to the plan, key projects expected to drive growth in the special zone include the Con Dao Airport project, a tourism-residential-golf resort complex in Co Ong, and the Con Dao passenger port project in Ben Dam Bay, which will be capable of receiving international cruise ships.

The plan also prioritizes the construction of administrative, educational, healthcare and urban public service centers.

Covering an area of about 75 square kilometers, Con Dao is an island located some 180 km off the coast of southern Vietnam.
