Namibia announces final 30-man squad for Rugby World Cup qualifiers in Dubai

WINDHOEK, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- The Namibia Rugby Union (NRU) on Tuesday announced the final 30-man squad for the upcoming 2027 Rugby World Cup qualifiers scheduled for Nov. 8 to 18 in Dubai.

The 30-man squad, which was trimmed from the preliminary 36, is made up of 17 forwards and 13 backs, and will be supported by a 12-man management team that will travel with them.

"Our Namibia Rugby Union squad and management are all set to take on the final qualification tournament in Dubai. Pride, passion, and purpose, this team is ready to fly the Namibian flag high," NRU said.

Namibia will participate in the final repechage tournament with Belgium, Samoa and Brazil. On Monday, World Rugby confirmed that Brazil replaced Paraguay, who withdrew from the competition.

These qualifiers will feature a four-team round-robin competition, with only one team securing the last available ticket to the 2027 Rugby World Cup, which will feature 24 teams and will be held in Australia.
