WASHINGTON (Reuters) -U.S. President Donald Trump is pushing for more control over everything the federal government and its agencies do, and a string of firings will test how far he might be able to take his quest.

Over three days this week, the Republican president moved to terminate Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention director Susan Monarez and railroad regulator Robert Primus.
