U.S. stocks close mixed

NEW YORK, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended mixed on Tuesday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 10.45 points, or 0.02 percent, to 44,922.27. The S&P 500 sank 37.78 points, or 0.59 percent, to 6,411.37. The Nasdaq Composite Index shed 314.82 points, or 1.46 percent, to 21,314.95.
