U.S. dollar ticks down


NEW YORK, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar fell in late trading on Friday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, decreased 0.22 percent to 98.180 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro was up to 1.1656 dollars from 1.1622 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound rose to 1.3453 dollars from 1.3410 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 147.67 Japanese yen, higher than 147.56 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar fell to 0.8077 Swiss francs from 0.8082 Swiss francs, and it dropped to 1.3751 Canadian dollars from 1.3765 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar declined to 9.5640 Swedish kronor from 9.6037 Swedish kronor.
