U.S. dollar ticks down


NEW YORK, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar fell in late trading on Friday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, decreased 0.83 percent to 99.139 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro increased to 1.1526 dollars from 1.1427 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound increased to 1.3227 dollars from 1.3220 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 147.85 Japanese yen, lower than 150.76 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar fell to 0.8081 Swiss francs from 0.8122 Swiss francs, and it dropped to 1.3817 Canadian dollars from 1.3846 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar fell to 9.7156 Swedish kronor from 9.7724 Swedish kronor.
