NEW YORK, July 30 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended mixed on Wednesday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 171.71 points, or 0.38 percent, to 44,461.28. The S&P 500 sank 7.96 points, or 0.12 percent, to 6,362.9. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased 31.38 points, or 0.15 percent, to 21,129.67.
Eight of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in red, with materials and real estate leading the laggards by losing 1.99 percent and 1.43 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, utilities and technology led the gainers by rising 0.69 percent and 0.43 percent, respectively.
