Crude futures settle lower

NEW YORK, June 23 (Xinhua) -- Oil prices plummeted on Monday.

The West Texas Intermediate for August delivery lost 5.33 U.S. dollars, or 7.22 percent, to settle at 68.51 dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude for August delivery dropped 5.53 dollars, or 7.18 percent, to settle at 71.48 dollars a barrel on the London ICE Futures Exchange.
