India's forex reserves rise to nearly 699 billion USD


NEW DELHI, June 20 (Xinhua) -- India's foreign exchange (forex) reserves rose by 2.294 billion U.S. dollars to 698.95 billion dollars during the week ended June 13, according to the weekly data released by the country's central bank, the Reserve Bank of India, on Friday.

In the preceding week, the country's forex reserves had increased by 5.171 billion dollars.

The data also revealed that the foreign currency assets increased by 1.739 billion dollars to 589.426 billion dollars, and the Gold Reserves increased by 428 million dollars to 86.316 billion dollars.

Besides, the special drawing rights rose by 85 million dollars to 18.756 billion dollars, and India's reserve position at the International Monetary Fund improved by 43 million dollars to 4.452 billion dollars.
