U.S. dollar ticks down


NEW YORK, May 19 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar fell in late trading on Monday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, decreased by 0.66 percent to 100.426 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro rose to 1.1235 U.S. dollars from 1.1152 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound increased to 1.3356 dollars from 1.3278 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 144.97 Japanese yen, lower than 145.90 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar was down to 0.8348 Swiss francs from 0.8390 Swiss francs, and it declined to 1.3959 Canadian dollars from 1.3985 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar lost to 9.6928 Swedish Kronor from 9.7871 Swedish Kronor.
