BERLIN, May 18 (Xinhua) -- Three people, including a 12-year-old girl, were injured in knife attack outside an apartment building in the eastern German city of Halle on Sunday, German media reported.

Authorities confirmed that one victim sustained serious injuries, while the other two, including the child, suffered minor wounds. All are currently receiving treatment in local hospitals, the German newspaper Bild reported.

The suspect was arrested shortly after the attack, a police spokesperson said, adding that "the situation is under control." No information has yet been released regarding the identities of the attacker or the victims.

Police said the stabbing followed an argument. Bild reported that the dispute may have been triggered by complaints about noise made by children. An investigation into the incident is underway.
