U.S. dollar ticks down

NEW YORK, May 15 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar fell in late trading on Thursday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, decreased by 0.16 percent to 100.878 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro remained unchanged at 1.1178 U.S. dollars, and the British pound advanced to 1.3299 dollars from 1.3264 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 145.68 Japanese yen, lower than 146.72 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar dropped to 0.8362 Swiss francs from 0.8426 Swiss francs, and it lost to 1.3966 Canadian dollars from 1.3976 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar fell to 9.7397 Swedish Kronor from 9.7572 Swedish Kronor.
