U.S. stocks close mixed

NEW YORK, April 30 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended mixed on Wednesday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 141.74 points, or 0.35 percent, to 40,669.36. The S&P 500 added 8.23 points, or 0.15 percent, to 5,569.06. The Nasdaq Composite Index shed 14.98 points, or 0.09 percent, to 17,446.34.
