Chinese translation competition held in Ukraine


KIEV, April 30 (Xinhua) -- The Confucius Institute of the Kiev National Linguistic University (KNLU) hosted a Chinese language translation competition on Tuesday for Ukrainian students from secondary and higher educational institutions.

The competition featured a range of contests, such as written translations from Chinese into Ukrainian of fairy tales, stories, essays and poetry, as well as oral translation tasks on various topics.

A total of 58 students from 14 educational institutions participated in the event.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to Ukraine Ma Shengkun encouraged Ukrainian students to further deepen their knowledge of the Chinese language and to promote cultural exchanges and friendship between the two nations.
