U.S. dollar ticks up


NEW YORK, April 29 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Tuesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 0.23 percent to 99.237 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro dropped to 1.1382 U.S. dollars from 1.1413 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound fell to 1.3402 U.S. dollars from 1.3426 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 142.29 Japanese yen, higher than 142.12 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar was up to 0.8242 Swiss francs from 0.8208 Swiss francs, and it added to 1.3846 Canadian dollars from 1.3844 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar advanced to 9.6292 Swedish kronor from 9.5884 Swedish kronor.
