NEW YORK, April 28 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended mixed on Monday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 114.09 points, or 0.28 percent, to 40,227.59. The S&P 500 added 3.54 points, or 0.06 percent, to 5,528.75. The Nasdaq Composite Index shed 16.81 points, or 0.10 percent, to 17,366.13.
Eight of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in green, with utilities and real estate leading the gainers by adding 0.70 percent and 0.68 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, technology and consumer staples led the laggards by losing 0.30 percent and 0.15 percent, respectively.
