U.S. dollar ticks down


NEW YORK, April 28 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar softened in late trading on Monday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, lost 0.46 percent to 99.012 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro climbed to 1.1413 U.S. dollars from 1.1380 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound advanced to 1.3426 U.S. dollars from 1.3329 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 142.12 Japanese yen, lower than 143.57 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar dropped to 0.8208 Swiss francs from 0.8271 Swiss francs, and it declined to 1.3844 Canadian dollars from 1.3860 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar fell to 9.5884 Swedish kronor from 9.6685 Swedish kronor.
