NEW DELHI, April 22 (Xinhua) -- The 24-karat gold price surpassed the 100,000 Indian rupees-mark (around 1,174 U.S. dollars) per 10 grams, reaching 101,350 Indian rupees (around 1,190 dollars) per 10 grams on Tuesday, the bullion market showed.

This was the highest gold price in the country.

The 24-karat gold price surged by around 1,800 Indian rupees (over 21 dollars) per 10 grams during the day.

An online report by The Indian Express said that the reasons behind the sudden surge in gold prices included escalating geopolitical risks, strong central bank demand, and persistent inflation concerns.
