U.S. stocks close higher

NEW YORK, March 25 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended higher on Tuesday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 4.18 points, or 0.01 percent, to 42,587.5. The S&P 500 added 9.08 points, or 0.16 percent, to 5,776.65. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased by 83.26 points, or 0.46 percent, to 18,271.85.

Seven of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in green, with communication services and consumer discretionary leading the gainers by adding 1.43 percent and 0.98 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, utilities and health led the laggards by losing 1.61 percent and 1.29 percent, respectively.
