U.S. dollar ticks up


NEW YORK, March 20 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar climbed in late trading on Thursday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, increased by 0.41 percent to 103.848 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro declined to 1.0848 U.S. dollars from 1.0908 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was down to 1.2960 dollars from 1.3008 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 148.80 Japanese yen, lower than 148.84 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar was up to 0.8819 Swiss francs from 0.8776 Swiss francs, and it rose to 1.4328 Canadian dollars from 1.4311 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar climbed to 10.1336 Swedish Kronor from 10.0856 Swedish Kronor.
