Golden Eagle Festival kicks off in Mongolia to promote ethnic Kazakh culture


ULAN BATOR, March 8 (Xinhua) -- The 19th Golden Eagle Festival kicked off in Mongolia on Saturday to promote tourism and ethnic Kazakh culture.

A group of hunters from Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan will compete in the two-day festival to catch stuffed animals with their specially trained golden eagles, showing off skills of both the birds and their trainers.

The festival will also feature Kazakh horse game and traditional handicrafts, clothing and food of Kazakhs.

The festival is held twice a year in Mongolia, one in spring and another in autumn.
