South Africa records 420 rhinos poached in 2024


JOHANNESBURG, March 6 (Xinhua) -- A total of 420 rhinos were killed for their horns in South Africa in 2024, down from 499 in 2023, Minister of Forestry, Fisheries, and the Environment Dion George said Thursday.

Announcing the annual poaching statistics, George noted that 320 rhinos were poached on state properties, while 100 were killed on privately owned parks, reserves, or farms.
