MINSK, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- A seminar of young sinologists was held Friday at the Republican Confucius Institute of Sinology at the Belarusian State University in Minsk.

More than 70 young Chinese and Belarusian experts and scholars from a number of universities and research institutes attended the conference using a combination of online and offline methods, and held thematic discussions on key areas of China and China-Belarus cooperation in the new era.

Anatoly Tozik, director of the Confucius Institute of Sinology and former deputy prime minister of Belarus, said China has achieved remarkable development in recent years, and cooperation between Belarus and China has broad prospects. A higher level of development of bilateral relations requires more advanced talents who understand the language and national conditions, he added.

Tozik expressed the hope that participants will sincerely communicate and jointly promote academic and cultural exchanges between the two countries.

Chinese Ambassador to Belarus Zhang Wenchuan said that young scholars who love Chinese culture and follow China's development gathered at this seminar to inspire each other and learn from each other's experiences.

Zhang expected the seminar to provide a useful platform for Belarusian students and young scholars to gain a deeper understanding and study of contemporary China, and make a greater contribution to raising the level of Belarusian research in the field of Chinese studies, as well as mutual learning and mutual improvement of scholars from the two countries.
