SOFIA, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- Bulgaria has reaffirmed commitment to fighting human trafficking amid increasing migrant and refugee flows.

Opening a conference on the subject on Thursday, Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Zafirov said that human trafficking is a crime that affects thousands of people across Europe and the world, and migrants seeking better economic opportunities are particularly vulnerable.

"Bulgaria is firmly committed to continuing the fight against this crime by strengthening and upgrading its legislative and institutional framework so that it can be an effective tool in combating human trafficking," Zafirov said.

"Bulgaria will continue to work closely with our international partners to ensure that every person seeking honest work and a better life will be protected," he added.
