Missing Chinese actor has been rescued, says Chinese embassy

BANGKOK, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese citizen surnamed Wang has been successfully rescued, the Chinese Embassy in Thailand said on Tuesday.

Wang Xing, a Chinese actor, was reported missing near the Thai-Myanmar border on Sunday, causing wide public concern from both China and Thailand.

The Chinese Embassy in Thailand expressed gratitude to the Thai government and other relevant parties for their efforts and effective work in this regard.

The Chinese Consulate General in Chiang Mai said earlier that it was informed by Thailand's Tak Immigration Office on Tuesday afternoon that the immigration office had received Wang and is currently conducting necessary inquiries according to regulations.

Tatchai Pitaneelaboot, inspector-general of the Royal Thai Police, said that Thai authorities will investigate the case and determine whether Wang is a victim of human trafficking.
