Qatar's Lusail City breaks Guinness world record for pyro drone show

DOHA, Jan. 2 (Xinhua) -- Qatar's Lusail City on Thursday received a Guinness World Records distinction for launching "the most fireworks by multirotors/drones in an aerial display" during 2025 New Year's Eve celebrations.

In a post on social media platform X, Lusail City announced that Qatari Diar, a government-owned real estate company, had "officially been awarded the Guinness World Records for the largest number of fireworks launched by drones in a stunning aerial display in Lusail."

The fireworks and pyro drone show were a highlight of the celebrations, which attracted 300,000 visitors to Lusail Boulevard on New Year's Eve.

Since its opening during the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Lusail Boulevard has become a prominent landmark for major events in Qatar. It gained global recognition after hosting the victory parade of Argentina's World Cup-winning team and has continued to serve as Qatar's center of New Year celebrations for the second consecutive year.
