NEW YORK, Dec. 31 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar rose in late trading on Tuesday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, gained 0.33 percent to 108.487 at 3:00 p.m. (2000 GMT).
In late New York trading, the euro fell to 1.0350 U.S. dollars from 1.0397 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound decreased to 1.2515 dollars from 1.2544 dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 157.34 Japanese yen, higher than 157.09 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar rose to 0.9077 Swiss francs from 0.9040 Swiss francs, and it added to 1.4393 Canadian dollars from 1.4359 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar climbed to 11.0706 Swedish Kronor from 11.0249 Swedish Kronor.
