U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar advanced in late trading on Monday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, gained 0.4 percent to 103.297 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro declined to 1.0897 U.S. dollars from 1.0939 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound decreased to 1.3051 dollars from 1.3072 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 149.90 Japanese yen, higher than 149.11 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar increased to 0.8637 Swiss francs from 0.8570 Swiss francs, and it was up to 1.3802 Canadian dollars from 1.3761 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar rose to 10.4337 Swedish Kronor from 10.3676 Swedish Kronor.
