U.S. dollar ticks down


NEW YORK, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Wednesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, lost 0.3 percent to 100.592 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro increased to 1.1147 U.S. dollars from 1.1122 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound rose to 1.3247 dollars from 1.3166 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 141.14 Japanese yen, lower than 141.81 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar dropped to 0.8433 Swiss francs from 0.8460 Swiss francs, and it decreased to 1.3575 Canadian dollars from 1.3593 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar fell to 10.1731 Swedish Kronor from 10.1822 Swedish Kronor.
