Chinese companies to participate in Tanzania's major trade fair: official

DAR ES SALAAM, June 18 (Xinhua) -- A batch of Chinese companies will participate in the 48th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF) from June 28 to July 13, an official announced on Tuesday.

Tanzania Trade Development Acting Director of Trade Promotion Tito Nombo told Xinhua that 10 more countries are also expected to confirm participation in this year's DITF, themed "Tanzania: Your Best Destination for Business and Investment."

Nombo said that the fair aims to promote goods and services, help exhibitors reach new markets and explore new opportunities. The main sponsor of the trade fair is the East Africa Commercial and Logistics Center Limited, a Chinese firm involved in international trade.

The 47th DITF, held from June 28 to July 13 last year, attracted 3,233 local exhibitors and 267 foreign exhibitors from 17 countries. Sales amounted to 3.8 billion Tanzanian shillings (about 1.6 million U.S. dollars), with orders worth 16.68 billion shillings placed during business-to-business meetings.
