U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, May 23 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Thursday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, went up 0.17 percent to 105.108 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro decreased to 1.0805 U.S. dollars from 1.0821 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was down to 1.2686 U.S. dollars from 1.2714 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 156.90 Japanese yen, higher than 156.63 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar lost to 0.9149 Swiss francs from 0.9152 Swiss francs, and it rose to 1.3743 Canadian dollars from 1.3695 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar increased to 10.7486 Swedish kronor from 10.7476 Swedish kronor.
