U.S. dollar ticks down

NEW YORK, May 3 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Friday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, lost 0.26 percent to 105.030 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro advanced to 1.0767 U.S. dollars from 1.0730 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was up to 1.2551 U.S. dollars from 1.2538 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 152.94 Japanese yen, lower than 153.06 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar was down to 0.9050 Swiss francs from 0.9100 Swiss francs, and it added to 1.3682 Canadian dollars from 1.3670 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar dropped to 10.8074 Swedish kronor from 10.8581 Swedish kronor.
