Crude futures settle lower

NEW YORK, May 2 (Xinhua) -- Oil prices settled mixed on Thursday.

The West Texas Intermediate for June delivery dropped 5 cents, or 0.06 percent, to settle at 78.95 U.S. dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude for July delivery gained 23 cents, or 0.28 percent, to settle at 83.67 dollars a barrel on the London ICE Futures Exchange.
