Over 500 rescuers rush to put out forest fire in southwest China

KUNMING, April 13 (Xinhua) -- A total of 515 rescuers have been dispatched to battle a forest fire that broke out at around 4 p.m. on Friday in Kunming, the capital city of southwest China's Yunnan Province, according to local authorities.

The fire occurred in Diantou Village, Erjie Township in Jinning District, with no settlements or important facilities nearby.

Rescue efforts and further investigation into the cause of the fire are underway.
