Gymnasium collapse kills 3 in northeast China

HARBIN, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- Three people were confirmed dead and another was slightly injured after parts of a gymnasium collapsed Monday in Huanan County in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, the county government said.

There were a total of seven people on the scene when the collapse took place at around 7:20 p.m. Monday at the Yuecheng fitness gymnasium in Huanan, the city of Jiamusi. Three people escaped by themselves.

Rescue efforts have basically concluded and the head of the gymnasium has been held under police control. Further investigations into the cause of the accident are underway.
