2 firefighters killed, 5 injured while battling cargo ship fire in U.S. New Jersey

WASHINGTON, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Two firefighters were killed and five others were injured Wednesday night as they battled a fire that broke out aboard a cargo ship at Port Newark, U.S. state of New Jersey, according to authorities and news reports.

"The Newark Fire Department, the Coast Guard, and multiple state and area agencies are continuing their response to a fire in Port Newark on the vehicle carrier ship, Grande Costa D'Avorio," said the U.S. Coast Guard in a press release Thursday morning.
