Hospital fire in Austria kills 3 patients

VIENNA, May 30 (Xinhua) -- Three people have died in a fire that broke out early Tuesday morning at a hospital in the town of Moedling, near Vienna, local authorities have said.

According to the Austrian news agency APA, the blaze started in a room on the third floor of the Moedling State Hospital shortly before 1 a.m. Tuesday, killing three male patients.

One woman was also injured, and around 90 patients were evacuated from the hospital, according to APA.

Police said on Tuesday night that the fire may have been caused by one of the victims, a 75-year-old man, smoking a cigarette in bed.
