JAKARTA -- Three crew members went missing in Indonesia after their boat capsized off Barito River in the country's Central Kalimantan province, a local official said on Thursday.
Their vessel carrying four crew members with jerrycans of clean water sank Wednesday at around 6 p.m. local time (1100 GMT) after it was hit by bad weather and high waves off the province's North Barito district. (Indonesia-Boat Accident)

TOKYO -- The head of Japan's police agency on Thursday said he will resign to take responsibility for last month's assassination of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

ISLAMABAD -- The wild poliovirus has recently been detected in the environmental samples of three more cities of Pakistan's eastern Punjab and northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) provinces, the Pakistani Health Ministry told Xinhua on Thursday.
The virus was detected in the sewage samples of Peshawar and Bannu cities of KP, and Punjab's capital Lahore, the ministry said, adding that the environmental samples were taken from 70 sites across the country. (Pakistan-Polio-Virus)

PUL-E-KHUMRI, Afghanistan -- Police have arrested 13 drug smugglers and confiscated 66 kg illicit drugs including heroin from their possessions, provincial head of counter-narcotics Mullah Mohammad Nabi said Thursday.
"We have arrested 13 drug smugglers during a series of operations over the past two days and discovered 66 kg of illegal drugs including heroin, hashish and opium poppy from their possessions," Nabi told reporters here. (Afghanistan-Drug)
