Native American health care devastated by COVID-19: U.S. scholars

LOS ANGELES, April 11 (Xinhua) -- Native American health care has been devastated by the COVID-19 pandemic and Native American reservations are among the most economically distressed, two U.S. scholars have said.

In an op-ed published Saturday on the website of The Arizona Republic, a daily newspaper published in Phoenix, Robert Field and Anthony Orlando said the chronic underfunding of Native American health care nearly crushed providers during the pandemic, noting that health outcomes for Native Americans already fall well below those for the rest of the U.S. population before the pandemic.
