6.1-magnitude quake shakes Tokyo

TOKYO (AFP): A 6.1-magnitude earthquake shook the Japanese capital Tokyo and surrounding areas on Thursday evening (Oct 7), but no tsunami warning was issued, the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) said.

The quake sent buildings swaying and an emergency warning blaring from the phones of local residents, intended to give them time to take shelter.
